The Carrier Access Channel Bank sets a new standard for
connecting T1 switched services to Hybrid / Key and PBX telephone systems. The
Carrier Access ABI Channel Bank converts a T1 digital access line to 12 or 24
analog telephone circuits. The Carrier Access ABI Channel Bank provides the
most economical, compact, and reliable solution on the market for converting T1
digital access services to standard "dial tone" interfaces. Business and
government offices can connect their existing telephone systems to T1 digital
services - without a significant investment in equipment.
One or two 12-channel telephone line voice cards plug into the LIU card to make
a complete I Channel Bank. The most commonly used 12-channel voice card is
the FXS-12. One FXS-12 card provides 12 standard Loop Start or Ground Start
telephone line connections to a customer's telephone system. The second FXS-12
card (for 24 telephone lines total) can be added to the I Channel Bank simply
by sliding it into the back of the cabinet.
Using state-of-the-art solid state integrated circuits, ultra-reliability and
advanced services features have been engineered into the Carrier Access ABI
Channel Bank. Only three circuit cards make up a complete 24 channel bank. The
FCC-registered T1 Channel Service Unit (CSU), Ringing Generator, Power
Converters, Ringback Tone Generator, and Channel Bank Controller are all
integrated into a single small electronics card called the Line Interface Unit
(LIU). The LIU connects directly to carrier T1 lines and supports selectable T1
standards of D4 or ESF framing and EMI or B8ZS line coding. A quick field
replacement of the LIU completely changes all common electronics in the Access
Bank.

The Access T1 Channel Bank I automatically adapts to changing line conditions, providing a clear, echo-free transmission path at all times.
Minimize deployment time
Designed for speedy deployment, the Access Bank I provides installation
instructions right on the case. Configuration is done via DIP switches and
self-test routines to ensure that all circuits are operable. The design
incorporates an integrated CSU, allowing direct T1 line connection and
monitoring.
In-service maintenance capabilities include hot-swappable line cards, channel LEDs and fuseless protection of all interfaces. A remote management option with Windows® GUI software and built-in modem is also available.
Direct connection to full CLASS features
The Access T1 Channel Bank I TR-08 option offers direct digital T1 connection to Class 5
local switch interfaces, eliminating the need for analog conversion of line
connections at the Central Office. TR-08 signaling can be provisioned for
physically separate shelves. Unlike trunk-side T1 switch connections, line-side
TR-08 connections supply full CLASSSM features
directly to customer phone lines.
